Typing Time

It is important in today's world to be able to type. 

We use our computer to type and print off information for our projects. 

Let's bring the beach inside!

Everyone likes to go to the beach. The feel of the sand in our hands is great fun. 

We mixed flour and baby oil together today. When you do this it sticks together to make a susbance that is similar to sand. It holds its shape well and we can make shapes and castles!

Science Time

We started an experiment today in which we put some egg shells into different liquids to see their affect on the shell. 

Egg shell is similar in nature to the outside of our teeth. And since we are studying teeth at the moment we would like to find out how popular drinks affect the health of our teeth. 

We will leave the egg shells for a couple of days and then record the result of the coke, vinegar, blackcurrent squash and water have on the egg shell. 

We got our results today!

The coke stained the egg. 

The blackcurrent juice stained the egg. It also caused a white mould to form. 

The vinegar was very interesting. It dissolved the egg shell and it went to mush!

The water didn't change the nature of the egg shell at all. It stayed the same. 

So in conclusion stick with water if you can to keep your teeth lovely and healthy!

Wrap up warm

We played with some wool today and made some mini wooly hats. 

We used toilet rolls to hold the shape. 

Then wrapped some lovely multi coloured wool around the toilet roll. This was kinda tricky but we took our time and concentrated on the task. 

Planting Time

There are signs of life emerging in our plants! We might get some flowers yet. 

We are a bit late but we thought we would try and plant some daffodil bulbs. 

Fingers crossed we might get some flowers!

Measuring Time

We have moved onto learning about weight in our class. 

We practiced weighing items with non standard units today. Over the next while we will move onto standard units kilograms and grams. 

We are Learning all about length at the moment. 

We had a bit of fun measuring the height of some of the boys in the class using links and cubes. 

Today we measured the length of some other items in the classroom. 

Healthy Teeth

We are learning about the importance of keeping our teeth clean and healthy. 

We practiced on fake teeth with toothbrushes. 

Then we did a practice first with the toothbrushes without toothpaste then we tried it with the toothpaste. 

The toothpaste it quiet minty and strong. But we all tried really hard and gave the tooth brushing a go!

Snowmen Come to Kilcoskan

Using Q tips we "dot" painted some snowmen today.

We each picked our own colours for the snowman's eyes, nose and arms

Lost mittens

We are learning a poem about when a little boy losses one of his mittens. 

It was fun reading the poem. 

After we had a chat about the poem we decided to make our own mittens using collage.
